Cooper Pratt's 12th-inning homer isn't enough as the Rays walk off the Brewers 4–3 to avoid a World Series sweep
The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4–3 in 12 innings in Game 4 of the 2026 World Series on October 27 at Tropicana Field, avoiding a sweep. Rookie Cooper Pratt went 4-for-5 and hit a go-ahead solo homer in the top of the 12th, but Jonny DeLuca tied it with an RBI single and Ben Williamson won it with a walk-off single in the bottom half. Milwaukee still led the series 3–1.

How it happened
Tampa Bay scored first in the second inning, when Chandler Simpson doubled off Brewers starter Dustin May and Jonny DeLuca came around from first. May held it there through three innings and was pulled when Junior Caminero led off the fourth with a single.
Cooper Pratt tied it with two outs in the top of the fourth, doubling into the corner off Rays starter Griffin Jax to score Sal Frelick. In the bottom half, Caminero scored on DeLuca's fielder's choice after David Hamilton's throw went wide; replay confirmed there was no tag and the Rays led 2–1.
Hamilton made up for it in the fifth with a 102-mph solo homer off Jax to tie the game 2–2. Then the bullpens took over. JoJo Romero, Abner Uribe, DL Hall and Aaron Ashby held Tampa Bay scoreless for eight innings, and Ashby stretched his postseason scoreless run with 2⅓ more innings. Milwaukee threatened in the ninth, but Chandler Simpson ran down Garrett Mitchell's drive and a replay upheld a force out at second. DeLuca took away two more hits with catches in the 10th.
Pratt led off the 12th with a solo homer off Ian Seymour, his fourth hit of the night, making him the first rookie ever to hit a go-ahead extra-inning home run in the World Series. Jackson Chourio followed with a two-out double, his 10th hit of the Series.
The Rays came back in the bottom half. Joey Ortiz's error let Caminero reach, Liam Hicks singled him to third, and Shane Drohan replaced Antonio Senzatela. DeLuca singled through the drawn-in infield to tie it 3–3, and pinch-hitter Ben Williamson singled to right to score pinch-runner Nick Fortes. It was only the second time a team facing a World Series sweep won on a walk-off.
Turning point
Up 3–2 in the bottom of the 12th, an error put the Rays in business. Jonny DeLuca singled through a drawn-in infield to tie it, and Ben Williamson singled off Shane Drohan to win it.
