Cronenworth's homer, King's relief keep Padres alive with 4–3 win over Brewers
The San Diego Padres beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4–3 in Game 3 of the 2026 NLDS on October 6 at Petco Park to avoid elimination. Jake Cronenworth broke a 2–2 tie with a first-pitch home run off JoJo Romero in the fifth, and Michael King got the final six outs, ending the game on a double play. Milwaukee still led the series 2–1.

How it happened
The Padres struck first in the bottom of the third, when Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado each drove in a run against Brewers starter Dustin May for a 2–0 lead.
William Contreras got one back with a solo homer in the fourth, and Jackson Chourio's sacrifice fly tied it 2–2 in the fifth.
The tie lasted half an inning. Cronenworth jumped on Romero's first pitch in the bottom of the fifth and drove it out for a 3–2 lead. In the sixth, San Diego added an unearned run on a Milwaukee error to go up 4–2.
The Brewers kept coming. Christian Yelich's RBI single in the seventh made it 4–3, and Milwaukee out-hit San Diego 11 to 6 but stranded 11 runners. Contreras finished with three hits and a walk.
King, the Padres' Game 2 starter, worked the final two innings. With the tying run aboard in the ninth, Yelich hit a 107-mph liner up the middle. Xander Bogaerts dropped to his knees to field it on a short hop, stepped on second and threw to first to end the game.
